RAWALPINDI: Two separate investiture ceremonies of the Rawalpindi Corps, Karachi Corps were held at Chaklala Garrison and Malir Cantt on Friday during which officers, soldiers and the next of kin of martyred personnel were conferred various awards.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), awards of Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military), Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (Military) and Tamgha-i-Basalat were conferred on army officers and soldiers.
“19 Shaheed soldiers were awarded Tamgha-i-Basalat. Next of kins of Shuhada received their awards posthumously,” the military’s media wing added.
The ISPR stated that about 36 officers were awarded Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military) and 89 officers were awarded Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (Military) for rendering meritorious services to the nation.
Commander Rawalpindi Corps Lieutenant General Sahir Shamshad Mirza was chief guest on the occasion. A large number of senior army officers and families of awardees attended the ceremony, the ISPR added.
In another statement ISPR said Commander Karachi, Lieutenant General Muhammad Saeed on Friday conferred medals to Army officers, soldiers and martyrs for their exemplary services to the nation.
The Karachi Corps Investiture ceremony was held at Malir Cantt, Karachi where the Corps Commander Karachi graced the occasion as Chief Guest, said an Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) news release.
The Corps Commander awarded 11 Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Military), 15 Tamgha-e-Imtiaz (Military) and 10 Tamgha-e-Basalat to officers, soldiers and families of Shuhadas (martyrs) for rendering meritorious services to the nation.
The ceremony was attended by Army officials and shuhada families. While speaking on the occasion, the Corp Commander paid tributes to Shuhadas. –ISPR
