Saudi Minister meets COAS on Defence ties

-Expresses grief over flood devastation
-Peshawar Corps Commander visits martyred Captain’s family

RAWALPINDI: Minister of Defence Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and Transformation Management Office Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Doctor Samir bin Abdulaziz Al-Tabib visited Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Thursday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated in a statement.
During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, bilateral defence, security cooperation and regional peace and stability were discussed, the military’s media affairs wing said.
According to the statement, COAS told the Saudi minister that Pakistan valued its historical and brotherly relations with the Saudi Kingdom and acknowledged its unique place in the Islamic world. The Saudi minister expressed his grief over the devastation caused by the ongoing floods in Pakistan.
He further acknowledged Pakistan’s defence potential and expressed the desire to enhance collaboration in defence and security sectors. General Bajwa thanked the visiting guest for his efforts to strengthen bonds between the two brotherly countries, the statement concluded.
In another statement, the ISPR said Peshawar Corps Commander Lieutenant General Hassan Azhar Hayat on Wednesday visited the family of Shaheed Captain Abdul Wali Wazir in Wana, South Waziristan. The corps commander paid tribute to the martyr and his family for making the “ultimate sacrifice” while defending the country, said ISPR.
Shaheed Captain Abdul Wali Wazir was martyred while leading an intelligence-based operation (IBO) on Monday in the Boyya area of North Waziristan, in which four terrorists were killed.
According to the military’s media wing, Shaheed Captain Abdul Wali Wazir studied at Cadet College Wana, where his father is an employee. The main auditorium of the college has been named Abdul Wali Wazir Shaheed Auditorium, in memory of the martyred captain. – ISPR
