Govt removes Sports Board’s Chief Asif Zaman

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Government has removed Director General (DG) of Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Asif Zaman from his position.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved the removal of the DG PSB on Friday.

According to detials, Asif Zaman was appointed as the PSB DG in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government. Federal Minsiter Ahsan Mazari was not satisfied with Asif Zaman’s performance.

Asif Zaman was appointed for three years by the PTI government.

In 2019, The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had taken former Director-General Punjab Sports Board Usman Anwar into custody over corruption charges.

According to NAB, Usman Anwar was accused for embezzling of funds in Punjab sports festival.

Usman Anwar had served as DG Punjab Sports Board during the tenure of former Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) minister Rana Mashood. – Agencies
