KP attracting investment through ease of doing business initiative

ISLAMABAD: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to start the second phase of the ‘ease of doing business initiative’ as the first phase of the project has yielded desired results, WealthPK reports.
The project was launched to attract investors and promote industrial activities in the province. The provincial government has shown satisfaction with the results of the first phase of the initiative.
An official of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Investment and Trade (KPBoIT) told WealthPK that the primary objective of the project was to streamline the overall business process in accordance with current needs. He said that the project was helpful in exploring investment opportunities in various sectors in the province.
He said that the primary mandate of KPBoIT was the promotion, encouragement, assistance and facilitation of investors as well as introducing reforms to ensure sustainable economic growth.
The official said that an ‘ease of doing business facilitation cell’ was set up at KPBoIT in line with the vision of the provincial government to facilitate investors and businessmen.
He said that various reforms including the launching of an online building plan approval system, online registration of firms by the directorate of industries, 24-hour service delivery centers in 18 districts and reforms in tax collection were introduced in the first phase.
Chairing a recently-held 10th meeting of KPBoIT, Chief Minister Mahmood Khan also stressed the need for an immediate launching of the second phase of the project
The chief minister also directed the quarters concerned to constitute a committee for effective coordination among relevant provincial departments in addition to laying special focus on the marketing of reform initiatives taken by KPBoIT, the official told WealthPK.
