Chengdu thrash Guangzhou, while Beijing edge Shanghai

BEIJING: Chengdu Rongcheng trounced Guangzhou City 3-0, while Beijing Guoan claimed a comeback victory over Shanghai Shenhua 2-1 in the Chinese Super League (CSL) on Friday.
Chengdu broke the deadlock minutes after the interval, as Hu Jing scored a tap-in in the 57th minute after receiving a precise corner ball pass from Brazilian midfielder Romulo.
Brazilian forward Saldanha was clean through on goal eight minutes later to enlarge the lead, and his teammate Romulo scored a powerful volley outside the box to seal the win in the 81st minute, bringing Chengdu a four-game winning streak.
Shanghai showcased their aggressiveness early on and opened the scoring in the sixth minute, as Wang Yi scored from a close range after collecting an accurate pass from his teammate in the box.
Zhang Xizhe scored a 53rd-minute equalizer for Beijing after his teammate Wang Gang’s shot was denied in the box. Zhang Yuning scored a low drive in the 75th minute to help Beijing chalk up the victory.
