Academic Staff Association of COMSATS University takes oath

ISLAMABAD: Academic Staff Association (ASA) of COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Islamabad campus has taken oath on Tuesday 17th January for year 2023. The purpose of ASA is to safeguard and promote the interests and legitimate rights of the University Teachers and to build academic life in all Campuses of CUI. The ASA-CUI shall govern and shall operate under the approved Constitution.
The new cabinet of ASA was elected unopposed on 10th January. Dr. Mehmood ul Hassan, Tenured Professor administrated the oath whereas Dr. Adnan Fida recited few versus from the Holy Quran. After taking the oath President of ASA Prof Dr. Siraj-ul-Islam Ahmad addressed the cabinet and committed to solve the outstanding issues of all faculty members across the board.
It was emphasized that cabinet will meet frequently for possible solutions of the faculty members. President also thanked the outgoing president Dr. Mudassar Khawaja who also attended the oath taking ceremony. Prof. Siraj requested the outgoing President for the briefing regarding various pending issues. Outgoing president showed full confidence and support whenever required on the current cabinet.
Newly elected General Secretary Dr. Farooq Iqbal Buzdar congratulated newly elected cabinet and thanked outgoing president for his hard work during his tenure. He assured assured his commitment for working tirelessly to resolve the problems of the faculty members.
He suggested making various committees for streamlining the pending issues of all the faculty members. Dr. Nazia Bibi the Vice President suggested that ASA should also take steps for solving the issues of the students as well. She also talked about how ASA could play it’s role for improving the ranking of the university.
Dr. Muhamamd Jadoon Khan, in his speech, said that everyone should be ready to accept the criticism in the same way that we used to criticize the opponents in the past. Dr. Ashfaq Khosa, gave various ideas regarding the working of the new cabinet. He said, “We should prioritize the tasks and follow the university rules in true letter and spirit.”
Dr. Naseer Ali Shah further said, “We spent a lot of work in the past for the resolution of faculty issues, however, still need to put more emphasis on pending issues.” Muhammad Tahir Khan, Waseem Abbas, Dr. Zainab Sadiq, Dr. Salman Safi, Ahmad Waqas, Ms. Sunbal Siddique and Dr. Adnan Fida also took oath. The Ceremony was concluded with vote of thanks.
