IGP calls for effective policing to curb crime

ISLAMABAD: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan has categorically directed all police officials to maintain high vigilance in the city in order to eradicate crimes and ensure an effective security and crackdown against drug traffickers, criminal elements and land grabbers.
The IGP Islamabad said this while chairing a crime meeting in the Central Police Office which was also attended by the CPO Operations, SSP Operations, AIGs, all zonal DPOs, SDPOs and SHOs.
The IGP reviewed the performance of the police stations and questioned every officer separately and appreciated the officers who work day and night to secure the city and to maintain the law and order situation in Islamabad.
Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan directed the officers to devise a comprehensive strategy to curb the crime in their respective areas, especially against those who were involved in heinous crime, adding that a massive crackdown should be continued against the drug peddlers and their handlers who were active in educational institutions. The IGP directed all police officials to take effective steps to control crime and adopt professional as well as responsible attitudes to mitigate the sufferings of the people and ensure the arrest of those criminal elements involved in different criminal activities and vehicles lifting and also ensure the recovery of looted valuables on a priority basis.
The IGP stressed that security of busy commercial centers and under-construction housing societies across the city should be strengthened, while eagle squad should be further activated and response time should be improved on the call of Pukar 15.

He further said that, modern technical resources should be used to further improve the investigation, coordination and data sharing should be further improved at the division level in order to tackle the criminal elements in a better way. While indiscriminate action against non pattern and fancy number plate vehicles should be intensified.

He directed the police officials to implement the Police Order 2002 completely and every work should be done according to it. Action against elements involved in purchasing and selling of stolen goods should be expedited.

Alternative dispute centers should be activated at the police station level, while registration of foreigners should be ensured on a priority basis. In the current security scenario the security of entry and exit of Islamabad should be further tightened and close monitoring on suspicious persons should be continued.

All SHO’s were directed to pay more attention to their work in a professional manner and keep checks and balances on their subordinate staff and treat them in a decent way.

IGP Islamabad said that the shortage of manpower will be overcome on a priority basis and all matters will be monitored by himself. While no laxity will be tolerated toward official duty.
