-ISPR says Security Forces shot dead eight terrorists in Balochistan Operation
-Six TTP militants killed in an Intelligence-Based Operation in KP’s Lakki Marwat
-Terrorists attempted to ambush a convoy of Security Forces in Kech
-Huge cache of arms, ammunition has also been recovered
QUETTA/PESHAWAR: Pakistan’s Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) have killed at least 14 terrorists during two separate IBOs in Khyber Pakh-tunkhwa and Balochistan Provinces on Thursday.
The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement that the Security Forces gunned down eight terrorists during a sanitisation operation in Balochistan’s Mazaaband Range.
Terrorism is again rearing its head in the country since the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) announced the end of the ceasefire in Novem-ber last year.
According to a statement issued by the military’s media wing, terrorists had attempted to ambush a convoy of security forces in the Kech District of Balochistan on Wednesday evening.
“While alert and combat-ready troops not only foiled this cowardly attempt without any loss of life, they also immediately commenced a follow-up operation to hunt down the fleeing terrorists using ground and aviation assets,” read the statement.
The ISPR said that a suspected hideout of terrorists was identified in Mazaaband Range Thursday’s morning, where a sanitisation operation was launched.
“In ensuing, heavy exchange of fire, eight terrorists have been killed while a large cache of arms and ammunition including explosives has also been recovered,” it added.
The ISPR also vowed that the security forces will continue to thwart any attempt by inimical elements, on the behest of hostile intelligence agencies, to disrupt hard-earned peace in the province.
Earlier in the day, a Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of the police claimed to have killed at least six terrorists in the Dadowala area of Lakki Marwat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) during a joint Intelligence-Based Operation (IBO). In a statement issued yesterday, Lakki Marwat police spokesperson Shahid Hameed said that the operation was conducted in the jurisdiction of the Dadiwala police station after security personnel got a tip-off that terrorists were planning an attack on the Abbas police checkpost.
“When the security teams reached the terrorists’ hideout, they opened fire at police officials from multiple directions. The police retaliated as well,” he said.
Hameed said that when the firing stopped, the police searched the site and found the bodies of six terrorists. “A huge cache of loaded arms, ammuni-tion and grenades were recovered from their possession.”
Four of the slain terrorists have been identified as Ziaullah, Safatullah, Mohibullah and Kaleemullah. The identification of two others was underway, the official said.
He added that the terrorists had been declared wanted by the Lakki Marwat police and the CTD for their involvement in attacks on the police. –Agencies
