Ex-CCPO Dogar refuses to pass on Wazirabad firing file to JIT

LAHORE: The new joint investigation team (JIT) formed by the Punjab caretaker government could not find the file of the case for investigation into the murder attempt on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in Wazirabad as former Lahore capital city police officer (CCPO) Ghulam Mehmood Dogar took the file with him.

The JIT asked for the file from Ghulam Mehmood Dogar several times. The investigation could not be started as the file was not provided, agencies reported on Wednesday.

“I cannot give the file. Yasmin Rashid has filed a writ petition in the High Court. I will give the file when the High Court decides,” Ghulam Mehmood Dogar said.

It is to be noted here that the JIT had been formed under the chairmanship of Rawalpindi Regional Police Officer (RPO) Khurram Ali Shah.

The JIT also approached an anti-terrorism court (ATC) for not getting the file.

The current JIT includes DIG Kamran Adil, Ihsanullah Chauhan and SP Naseebullah.

The members of JIT, formed during the era of the PTI, have disagreed with the investigation of Ghulam Mehmood Dogar.
