The year 2023 has been very difficult for Pakistan and our arts and intelect have also gotten a shocker one after another as many big names related to the field of art have passed away. Another sad news has penetrated the Pakistani arts today as veteran playwirght, actor and teacher, Shoaib Hashmi passed away this morning.
He had an illustrious career as he had degrees in economics and theatre. He has worked a lot in the domain of theatre. He has done many golden productions for PTV including Akkar Bakkar, Sach Gap, Taal Matol and Balila. He was also a columnist and has translated several books. One of his major feats is the translation A Song for this Day: 52 poems by Faiza Ahmed Faiz.
Educationist and artist Salima Hashmi is his wife while legendary poet Faiza Ahmed faiz was his father in law. Actor Adeel Hashmi known for appearing in famous telecom ads is his son.

This marks another big loss for the field of arts and intellect in the year 2023. He passed away after being bed-ridden for 14 years. May Shoaib Hashmi rest in peace.
