Capital Cops’ summer camp begins

Islamabad: Islamabad police will ensure friendly police ecology and bridge the gap between police and public by enhancing cooperation.
It was stated by SP Headquarters, Rana Hussain Tahir while inaugurating the 22nd Summer Camp of Islamabad Capital Police.
The Summer Camp is a part of Community Policing, where children are provided basic medical assistance, archery, and self-defense training sessions for one month.
Additionally, activities such as handicrafts, shooting, and martial arts are included. All these activities are conducted on a non-profit basis, and all expenses are borne by the participating individuals.
According to details, special efforts are underway following directions of Islamabad Capital City Police Officer (ICCPO) Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan to promote community policing and Akbar Nasir Khan to enhance trust between the police and the public.
These initiatives include various activities with public representation. The 22nd Summer Camp of Islamabad Capital Police has started, which is a part of Community Policing. Children receive one-month training in basic medical assistance, archery, and self-defense training sessions. Additionally, activities such as handicrafts, shooting, and martial arts are included.
All these activities are conducted on a non-profit basis, and all expenses are borne by the participating individuals. Children aged 4 to 14 years participate in the Summer School, with the aim of imparting positive and constructive skills to them. The Islamabad Capital Police started the Summer Camp in 2002 and has successfully organized 22 Summer Camps since then.
Similarly, the optional self-defense courses were initiated in 2021, and eight courses have been conducted so far, with active participation from both women and men who received training from expert police instructors.
Furthermore, a winter camp was also organized in 2022. Islamabad Capital Police continues to organize these activities every year on a non-profit basis, with the participation of children, men, and women from different sections of society. The 22nd Summer Camp of Islamabad Capital Police is a part of this series, where more than 250 children are currently participating, and further enrollments are ongoing.
SP Headquarters, Rana Hussain Tahir, inaugurated the 22nd Summer Camp, and on this occasion, he said that in accordance with the vision and directives of the ICCPO, these activities for the promotion of community policing will continue to be successful.
In the Summer Camp, children aged 4 to 14 years participate, where they receive initial medical assistance, workshops on road safety, group music sessions, trips outside the city, lectures on self-protection and child protection.
SP Headquarters further stated that during the course, students will be trained by experienced instructors in self-defense, archery, handicrafts, martial arts, shooting, and overcoming obstacles. Additionally, pick-up and drop-off facilities will be provided to ensure maximum participation of children from all major areas of Rawalpindi city.
Finally, he addressed the parents, assuring them that their children will be kept in the best environment and their safety will be fully ensured. He thanked the parents for their trust in the police and their participation in the launch of the Police Summer Camp School in Islamabad Capital Police.
