Haroon Shahid reveals dark side of music industry

By Abid Usman

Haroon Shahid is a singer turned actor. He has been very passionate about his music and we have seen him perform in the coveted Coke Studio. Haroon Shahid made his acting debut with the Shoaib Mansoor film Verna. He later on came towards dramas and he has not looked back since starring in dramas like Do Bol and Qayamat. He is a full time actor now and audiences love to watch him.
Haroon is among many other music stars who shifted from the music industry towards acting. Though we have many big singers like Atif Aslam, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Asim Azhar, Aima Baig and Kaifi Khalil but the industry as a whole did not grow as much as it should have and it is limited to some brand themed shows mainly. Haroon was a guest at a show where he talked about some injustices of the music industry.
He shared that he knows many big star singers who earn crores for their shows and still exploit small musicians. He said that he knows people who would not even pay 30k to a musician though they may have earned in millions themselves. This is a dark side of the industry and there are no standards about how much a musician should be paid resulting in more exploitation by big stars.
