ICCPO visits 9th Muharram processions, directs for foolproof security

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Capital City Police Officer (ICCPO) Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan visited the main procession of 9th Muharram-ul-Haram to review the security arrangements. Over 2,200 police personnel, including senior officers, have been deployed to ensure the safety of citizens and maintain law and order during the 9th Muharram-ul-Harram processions.
ICCPO Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, accompanied by SSP Operations and Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Islamabad, inspected the security measures in place for the procession. He directed the officers to implement foolproof security protocols to safeguard the lives and property of the citizens, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and harmony during the observance of Muharram.
Speaking about the security arrangements, ICCPO Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan stated, “We have taken every necessary measure to ensure the safety and security of all citizens during the 9th Muharram procession. The Quick Response Force is on high alert to respond promptly to any potential threats or untoward incidents.”
As part of the comprehensive security plan, the state-of-the-art surveillance cameras of Safe City are fully operational to closely monitor the procession routes and surrounding areas.
Additionally, the bomb disposal squad has employed advanced technology to clear the procession routes of any potential hazards, ensuring a safe environment for all attendees.
To facilitate the smooth flow of the event, specific entry points have been designated for citizens to enter the procession area, each under the watchful eye of deployed police personnel. Separate entry points have been allocated for women, where lady police officers are present to conduct thorough checks. Furthermore, police commandos have been strategically positioned on rooftops along the procession routes, prepared to respond swiftly to any emergency situation that may arise.
Emergency measures have also been implemented in all hospitals across the federal capital to ensure immediate medical assistance in case of any unforeseen incidents. CPO/DIG Operations Syed Shahzad Nadeem Bukhari, is overseeing all security arrangements for the procession, underscores the commitment of Islamabad Capital Police to uphold law and order.
He emphasized, “The Islamabad Capital Police is fully prepared to maintain law and order and respond effectively to any external challenges. We are resolute in our mission to safeguard the peace and security of our city, and we will not allow any elements to disrupt the harmony of this occasion.”
