ISLAMABAD: In a proactive move to enhance passenger safety during inter-district travel, following the special directions of Islamabad Capital City Police Officer (ICCPO) Dr Akbar Nasir Khan, the Islamabad Capital Police has introduced a set of comprehensive guidelines. These measures aim to ensure the security and well-being of travelers and maintain efficient traffic flow at bus stands.
Under the newly introduced guidelines, the administration of bus stands will play a pivotal role in collecting information about both stands and passengers. Daily commuters will have their details registered, contributing to a streamlined data compilation process.
The guidelines further encompass the enforcement of parking regulations, allowing for orderly parking arrangements at bus stands. Notably, designated spaces will be allocated to prevent congestion and facilitate a smoother travel experience.
In a technology-driven stride towards safety, all bus stands will undergo geo-tagging, integrating them into a Geographic Information System (GIS). This advancement will allow for centralized monitoring and surveillance using the Safe City cameras.
The data of commuters will be registered into the “Hotel Eye” system. Islamabad Capital City Police Officer (ICCPO), Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, emphasized the critical importance of safeguarding passengers’ lives. He cited recent accident on the highway, 18 of which remained unidentified, as a driving force behind these initiatives.
The execution of the guidelines will be overseen by SSP CTD, Chief Traffic Officer Islamabad, and Zonal DPO’s guaranteeing effective traffic management and oversight, he added.
He further said that incorporating modern surveillance solutions, the Safe City cameras will play an instrumental role in monitoring traffic situations and passenger activities at bus stations. He reaffirmed the commitment of the Islamabad Capital Police to uphold public safety and protect citizens’ property.
