TEHRAN: Iran’s Foreign Minister, Hossein Amirabdollahian has accused Israel of seeking a genocide of Palestinians by imposing a siege against Gaza, Iranian state media reported on Thursday. Amirabdollahian made the remarks while talking to state media before embarking on a regional tour, starting with Iraq, to discuss the ongoing situation in the Gaza strip.
The Iranian top dipl;omat said that the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories is the root cause of crises in West Asia.
He said that Israel is attempting to massacre the whole population of the Gaza Strip by committing war crimes against civilians, imposing a total blockade, and depriving them of basic needs such as electricity and water.
He added that today’s war in Gaza strip is the Zionists’ war against all Palestinians.
Amirabdollahian left from Tehran for Baghdad on Thursday, where he is expected to meet with high-ranking Iraqi officials, including his counterpart Fuad Hussein. Following his visit to Iraq, the Iranian dip-lomat will visit Syria and Lebanon.
The recent conflict in Gaza has led to a significant loss of life, with more than 1,200 reported casualties due to Israel’s continuous campaign of air and artillery strikes, causing over 338,000 people to be dis-placed, according to the UN. –Agencies
