GILGIT: The China Scholarship Council (CSC) and Karakoram International University (KIU) co-hosted an interactive session titled “Understanding China and Scholarship Opportunities in China” at Fatima Jinnah Degree College for Women in Gilgit on Wednesday. The event aimed to shed light on the Chinese education system and the scholarship opportunities available for students.
The session, facilitated by Principal Dr. Sitara Parveen, attracted a significant turnout of female students eager to learn about educational prospects in China.
Speakers at the event discussed the high educational standards in China and detailed the scholarships on offer, emphasising the support available for women from Gilgit Baltistan interested in studying abroad.
Dr. Khalid Mehmood Alam, an Assistant Professor at CSC, KIU, spoke to Gwadar Pro: “The session addressed and helped dispel myths and misconceptions about studying in China.” He further explained, “Students were reassured that their dietary preferences and cultural values are respected by Chinese officials during their studies.”
CSC regularly organises such informative sessions at KIU’s main and satellite campuses.
“This event was particularly significant as it provided college students with knowledge about Chinese scholarships well before they reach university level,” the Professor stated.
A notable number of young women from Gilgit Baltistan have benefited from various Chinese scholarships, furthering the region’s commitment to empowering women through education. –Agencies
