KARACHI: In a significant political development on Wednesday, former interior minister Faisal Saleh Hayat quit the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and joined the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) ahead of the 2024 general elections.
As per details, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif welcomed Hayat to the party as he arrived in Jhang, where a meeting was held at the residence of the former minister. Shehbaz invited Hayat to join the party during the meeting. Following the meeting, Hayat formally an-nounced his inclusion in the PML-N.
“By the grace of Allah, I am hopeful that the inclusion of Faisal Saleh Hayat and his group will signifi-cantly strengthen the PML-N, particularly in the districts of Jhang and Chiniot,” said Shehbaz while speaking to the media following the meeting.
Former prime minister hoped that Hayat’s inclusion would be beneficial for the party as well as its leadership. “If given the opportunity, I am confident that under Nawaz Sharif’s leadership, Pakistan will prosper,” he added. Shehbaz further said that he arrived at Hayat’s residence with sincere intentions, carrying good wishes and aspirations from his brother Nawaz Sharif and the entire leadership of PML-N.
It is worth noting that Faisal Saleh Hayat contested the 2018 elections on the ticket of the PPP from National Assembly constituency NA-114, Jhang, securing over a hundred thousand votes.
