TANK: At least two terrorists were killed in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Tank district of Khyber-Pakthunkhwa, said the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Friday.
The military’s media wing said the IBO was launched after reports of terrorist presence in the area and an intense exchange of fire took place. One of the terrorists killed was identified as Gul Yousaf aka Toor, a high-value target.
“Terrorist Gul Yousaf remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against security forces including high profile terrorist attacks in Tank and DI Khan districts as well as extortion and target killing of innocent civilians.”
The killed terrorist had a bounty of Rs2.5 million for his capture.
“Local populace appreciated the efforts of the security forces in maintaining peace and stability in the area,” said the ISPR.
“Security forces of Pakistan, in step with the nation, remain determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country..”
Earlier this week, security forces killed four terrorists including a suicide bomber during an IBO in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa North Waziristan district, the military said.
According to the military’s media wing, the operation was conducted on the reported presence of ter-rorists, adding that they remained involved in numerous terrorist activities against the security forces.
ISPR said that the terrorists were planning to conduct a high-profile terrorist attack, which was averted due to a proactive response by the security forces.
Arms, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from killed terrorists, it added. –Agencies
