ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Huawei Pakistan, Ethan Sun on Thursday discussed digitalization, IT & Telecom infrastructure, and skills development.
During the meeting, Shaza Fatima said that the current government is taking effective steps to promote Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in the country, said a news release.
She said that, in line with the Prime Minister’s vision, the country’s youth are receiving training in information technology.
She urged Huawei to equip teachers and students in schools, colleges, and universities with digital skills, and to provide training to government employees.
Shaza Fatima highlighted the government’s desire for Huawei to assist in launching a one-stop service platform for business registration and quick service delivery to citizens.
She said that, following the Prime Minister’s directives, special attention is being given to the safety of Chinese nationals working in Pakistan and urged Huawei to support the establishment of safe cities in the country.
The initiation of a smart healthcare program for people living in remote areas, especially in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), was also discussed during the meeting.
The CEO of Huawei, Ethan Sun, affirmed Huawei’s commitment to promoting ICT and the digital economy in Pakistan.
