Balochistan CM expects more funds from next CCI moot

QUETTA: Balochistan government will vehemently present its stance at the upcoming meeting of the Council of Common Interest to be held in Islamabad, Prime Minister Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif in chair.

“The Balochistan government has been decided to present the province’s “polite but firm” stance at the country’s high-level forum of Council of Common Interests,” he said during a meeting held here at CM Secretariat on Thursday.

The Chief Minister, while addressing the meeting, emphasized that all decisions would be taken with the larger public interest in mind, with a focus on the province’s interests at the next meeting of the Council of Common Interests.

“The province’s government is working hard to take concrete steps for the general growth and prosperity of the province, including effectively presenting the province’s position at the federal level and reaching a peaceful resolution with the federation,” he vowed.
The Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti reiterated the provincial government commitment to make every effort to deliberate with the federation for the due right of the province’s resources and revenue.

It merits mentioning here that Sarfaraz Bugti has been successful in convincing the federal government on a number of issues that required federal government immediate attention and financial support.

The issue of shifting of agri-tubewells to solar energy or approval of provincial projects in the federal PSDP, federal government gave weight to CM Balochistan approving Rs 55 billion for former project and funding for two projects for latter demand.

PM Shehbaz, in his recent visit to Quetta, acknowledged the firm stance of CM Balochistan on many issues and convincing him to play federation’s role in issues faced by the people of the province.

Parliamentary Secretary for Inter-Provincial Coordination Meena Majeed, Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan, Secretary Inter-Provincial Coordination Syed Sikandar Shah, Secretary Irrigation Hafiz Abdul Majid, Secretary Energy Bashir Ahmed Khan Bazai, were in attendance. –Agencies
