‘Nawaz, Zardari unable to judge prevailing situation’

LAHORE: Former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry on Wednesday said that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari are on the verge of making the “biggest mistake in history” as they embark on efforts to ban Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI).
During a media interaction in Lahore, he claimed that the decision taken by Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari was a colossal mistake, predicting that they would come to regret it and find themselves unable to face their peers. Chaudhry also mentioned that PTI’s iconic bat symbol had been revoked, noting that despite the party being forced to use multiple symbols, it continued to win and make gains.
He pointed out that Imran Khan has been imprisoned for 14 months, and the founder of PTI is being oppressed, with the entire nation standing by him. He added that digital terrorism is not being conducted by PTI but from outside the country. He called for the immediate release of PTI Information Secretary Raoof Hasan, emphasising that the world is witnessing human rights violations in Pakistan.
Furthermore, Chaudhry commented on the ongoing conflicts with the judiciary, the public, and the state of the economy. He warned that this is just the beginning and that people will scream in the coming days.
Earlier, Just days after the Supreme Court resurrected PTI, the PML-N-led ruling coalition decided on Monday that a reference will be sent to the top court seeking a ban on PTI, adding that the government will also initiate Article 6 proceedings against ex-PM Imran Khan, ex-President Dr Arif Alvi and ex-deputy speaker Qasim Suri for dissolving the National Assembly back in April 2022. –Agencies
