Accused killed by accomplices’ gunfire

ISLAMABAD: Following the special directives of the IGP Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, Islamabad Police is continuously working to maintain peace and tranquility and ensure the safety of lives and property of citizens in the federal capital.
According to the details, unknown accused opened fire on a police team on Japan Road in the Kirpa police station jurisdiction. During the shootout, the accused Hameed Ullah Afghani was killed by the firing of his accomplices. The incident took place last night.
The police team was taking the accused for recovery, and as soon as they got him out of the vehicle, four accused on two motorcycles suddenly opened indiscriminate fire. Two police officers were caught in the line of fire but remained safe due to precautionary measures. The accused, Hameed Ullah Afghani, who was in police custody, was severely injured by the firing. He was immediately shifted to PIMS hospital for medical assistance, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The accused was under a four-day physical remand with the Humak Police Station. The deceased accused was wanted in multiple cases, including murder, robbery, theft, and illegal possession of arms, in various police stations of Islamabad. The robbers were trying to free their accomplice from police custody. The accused managed to flee taking advantage of the darkness, and efforts are underway to apprehend them.
