LAHORE: Minister for Planning Development & Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal stressed on promotion of green energy to mitigate environmental challenges.
Addressing a ceremony in Lahore, he highlighted that the economy was moving towards development and the government was taking measures to boost the energy sector.
Federal minister recalled that Pakistan faced power challenges of load shedding for long hours in the past due to power shortage.
He claimed that their government initiated energy projects under CPEC to resolve power woes. Iqbal emphasised on provision of cheap and eco-friendly power alternatives for all.
Minister disclosed that various projects were running including alternative energy sources to meet the demand of power shortage .
The process of reforms in the energy sector was going on, the planning minister announced.
He revealed that Pakistan was working with the Central Asian state, Tajikistan, to meet the needs of energy.
Ahsan Iqbal insisted that climate change was the biggest environmental challenge and Pakistan faced losses of billions in flash floods in 2022.
Planning and development minister stressed for collective cooperation of Asian countries to mitigate the risks of climate change and other challenges, as it was inevitable for regional development and prosperity.–Agencies
