KABUL: Afghanistan’s territory is being used for terrorism against Pakistan, and the death of the Af-ghan Taliban official’s son alongside TTP militants is a clear proof of this fact.
On January 30, 2025, the son of Afghan Deputy Governor of Badghis, Mullah Ghulam Mohammad, named Badaruddin alias Yusuf, was killed in an operation by security forces in Kalachi, Dera Ismail Khan, along with three terrorists. He was killed alongside militants of the Khawarij faction (FAK). The death of Yusuf with TTP militants proves that Afghanistan is openly supporting terrorism in Paki-stan.
TTP and other terrorist groups in Afghanistan are being provided training, weapons, and safe havens. This is blatant aggression, which can no longer be tolerated.
Terrorist groups in Afghanistan pose a threat not only to Pakistan but also to the peace of the entire region. By providing shelter to these groups, the Kabul government is waging an open war.
Afghanistan has always harbored terrorists and attempted to harm Pakistan. The links between the Afghan Taliban and TTP are no longer hidden.
Whenever Afghanistan uses terrorists against Pakistan, Pakistan will respond vigorously. Terrorism un-der Afghanistan’s state sponsorship will no longer be tolerated. Afghanistan’s use of terrorism as a weapon is a grave threat to regional stability. Pakistan will not toler-ate terrorism on its soil.
Earlier, Recent data has shocked policymakers, revealing a troubling surge in terrorism across Pakistan in 2024.
According to statistics released by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), an Islamabad-based think tank, militants carried out more than 800 attacks throughout the year. These attacks claimed over 1,100 lives and left more than 1,200 people injured.
The report, accessed by media, highlights that the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan bore the brunt of the violence. Balochistan witnessed 293 attacks, resulting in 404 deaths and 569 injuries.
Similarly, KP experienced 308 attacks, which led to 331 fatalities and 244 injuries.
The ex-FATA or Tribal Areas, now merged with KP, also faced significant militant activity, recording 259 attacks, 375 deaths, and 437 injuries over the year.
While Balochistan and KP were the primary targets, Punjab and Sindh were not spared as militants car-ried out attacks in these regions as well. The alarming increase in terrorist activity calls for urgent attention from policymakers to address the underlying causes of militancy and bolster the nation’s security apparatus.
