ISLAMABAD: SSP Operations Islamabad Muhammad Shoaib Khan held a press conference at the Rescue-15 field office. On the occasion a large number of journalists, police officials and stolen bikes owners were also present.
During a press conference, SSP Operations Islamabad Muhammad Shoaib Khan revealed that the arrests were made through decoy operations, surprise checkpoints and the use of modern technology.
SSP Operations stated that Islamabad Police teams had launched an effective crackdown on motorcycle theft, resulting in the apprehension of 27 accused belonging to eight organized gangs. He said investigations are underway to trace links with other provinces.
He added that prior focus was on robberies, where major crackdowns were successfully conducted. Additionally, special anti-bike lifting cells comprising 30 to 35 personnel from the CIA and Operations Division have been formed to tackle the bike lifting activities.
SSP Operations emphasized the importance of immediate FIR registration after a bike theft to assist owners and aid investigations. He said records of all impounded bikes at police stations are being compiled and matched through data sharing with the lifting cells.
Data from Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal and Jhelum is also being integrated with daily sharing continuing with other districts. He assured that the arrested accused would be challaned with solid evidence to ensure strict punishment.
Islamabad Police remain active and committed to curbing motorcycle theft, he added.
On the occasion, SSP Operations handed over recovered motorcycles to their rightful owners, who expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Islamabad Police.
