ISLAMABAD: For the first time in Islamabad Police’s history, a female Station House Officer (SHO) has been appointed in a general police station.
In this regard, Sub-Inspector Misbah Shehbaz has been appointed as SHO of Police Station Phulgran.
She is the first female to take such a role in a men’s police station. In this regard, Deputy Inspector General of Police Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq has issued formal orders of appointment.
He stated that the decision to appoint a female SHO in a general police station was taken to end gender discrimination within the Islamabad Police.
He further said that this initiative would continue and more female officers would be given the opportunity to lead police stations.
In addition, new SHOs have also been appointed in six other police stations of Islamabad. These include Alamgir Khan as SHO of Koral Police Station, Zahid Hussain to Nilore Police Station, Shahnawaz Dogar to Shams Colony Police Station, and Basreen Akhtar as SHO of the Women Police Station.
Furthermore, due to poor performance and failure in crime control, the SHOs of Koral, Phulgran, Shams Colony, and Lohi Bher police stations have been suspended and ordered to report Rescue-15.
