BEIJING: The World Economic Forum’s 16th Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2025, commonly known as the Summer Davos Forum, will be held from June 24 to 26 in north China’s Tianjin Municipality, with the theme of “Entrepreneurship in the New Era.”
This year’s Summer Davos forum is expected to bring together over 1,700 participants from over 90 countries and regions to explore how entrepreneurship and innovation can reignite global growth, the organizers said at a media conference in Beijing on Tuesday, where they detailed the event’s focus on driving strategic dialogue around global challenges.
This year’s forum will focus on five key areas: deciphering the world economy, outlook on China, industries disrupted, investing in people and the planet, and new energy and materials.
Through this year’s Summer Davos, China will reaffirm its commitment to pursuing high-level opening up and to sharing opportunities brought about by its development with the rest of the world, said Chen Shuai, an official with the National Development and Reform Commission.
Tianjin Vice-Mayor Li Wenhai welcomed international participants to experience the city’s advancements in technology and emerging industries, emphasizing the role of Summer Davos as a hub for meaningful dialogues.
“The 16th Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2025 will bring us valuable insights and new development momentum, and help boost the global economy to achieve stable growth,” said Li.
As one of the most dynamic regions in the world, Asia drives 60 percent of global economic growth, with China accounting for half of that contribution, according to Gim Huay Neo, managing director of the World Economic Forum, at a recent presser.
She noted that this year’s Summer Davos forum will provide opportunities for participants to deepen their understanding of development trends in China and Asia.
It is also announced that over 40 sessions, including the opening plenary, will be livestreamed, alongside the release of key reports such as the 2025 Energy Transition Index and Top 10 Emerging Technologies.
Through action-oriented dialogues, the meeting aims to accelerate progress on shared imperatives and offer participants the opportunity to explore how entrepreneurship and emerging technologies can unlock more dynamic and resilient economies.
Additionally, it will provide valuable insights into emerging markets and their role in driving global economic growth, according to the meeting’s official website.
The World Economic Forum has become synonymous with the town of Davos in the Swiss Alps, where it holds its annual meeting every January. But there’s another event held by the forum in China each June, that is known as “Summer Davos.”
The Annual Meeting of the New Champions, or AMNC, brings together global leaders, innovators and change-makers to address pressing economic challenges, while exploring new frontiers for sustainable and inclusive growth.
Since it began in 2007, Summer Davos has established itself as a truly global event in China, convening the next generation of “new champions,” or fast-growing enterprises that are shaping the future of business and society. –The Daily Mail-CGTN news exchange item
