ISLAMABAD: Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Islamabad chaired a high-level meeting attended by the SSP Investigation, SSP Operations, Zonal SPs, SDPOs and SHOs to review and finalize the Muharram security plan.
He directed that sensitive areas be regularly patrolled and that proactive search and combing operations be carried out.
He also instructed that all religious processions be closely monitored through Safe City cameras.
DIG Islamabad stated that there would be zero tolerance for aerial firing and warned that strict departmental action would be taken against SHOs in whose jurisdictions such incidents occur. He emphasized the activation of the Command and Control Room to ensure effective coordination and real-time monitoring of events.
He further directed that strict checking be enforced at all city entry and exit points, as well as at places of worship and Imambargahs. Surveillance and monitoring systems across Islamabad are to be enhanced, and all mourners participating in processions and gatherings will be screened with metal detectors.
DIG Islamabad also noted that Islamabad Traffic Police officers will remain on duty around the clock to ensure smooth traffic flow during Muharram.
He reaffirmed that the safety and security of citizens, along with the provision of essential facilities, remain the top priority of Islamabad Police.
