Islamabad: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi has formed special monitoring and vigilance teams to ensure the security of processions and gatherings during Muharram-ul-Haram in the federal capital. An official notification regarding the formation of the teams has been issued. For security purposes, the city of Islamabad has been divided into five divisions.
DG Safe City Shakir Hussain Dawar and AIG Logistics Abdul Haq Umarani will oversee security duties in the Rural Division. DIG Law and Order Muhammad Atiq Tahir and AIG Operations Arsalan Shahzeb will monitor security in the I-9 area.
Similarly, DIG Security Syed Ali Raza and SSP CTD Hamza Humayun will be responsible for the City Division. SSP Safe City Muhammad Iqbal and DSP ARF Ghulam Mustafa will oversee the Saddar Division. AIG Establishment/Investigations Syed Enayat Ali Shah and SSP Shams-ul-Haq Durrani will monitor security in the Sohan Division.
IGP Islamabad stated that Islamabad Police will ensure foolproof security arrangements during Muharram-ul-Haram to guarantee the safety of all processions and gatherings in the capital. Officers will also work to facilitate citizens by ensuring their safety, providing adequate parking arrangements, and maintaining smooth traffic flow.
He appealed to citizens to cooperate with police officers and personnel assigned to protect them during Muharram-ul-Haram and to report any complaints, suspicious activities, or individuals promptly via “Call 15.” The primary goal of Islamabad Police, he added, is to ensure the complete protection of its citizens.
