ISLAMABAD: Following the special directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, the Islamabad Traffic Police has taken another important step to ensure the safety of motorcyclists. It has now been decided that both individuals riding a motorcycle — whether male or female — must wear helmets.
This decision was made under the command of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Islamabad, Captain (Retd) Syed Zeeshan Haider, with the aim of protecting citizens from fatal injuries during road accidents. Implementation will begin after a two-week extensive awareness campaign.
During this campaign, seminars and social media initiatives will highlight the importance and benefits of helmet use. Motorcyclists will be encouraged to voluntarily comply with the law. After the two-week period, legal action will be taken against those not wearing helmets — including both the rider and the passenger.
CTO Islamabad stated that wearing helmets can increase the survival rate by up to 50% in the event of an accident. He further emphasized that ensuring the safety of citizens’ lives and property, as well as maintaining an organized traffic system in the federal capital, remains the top priority.
Islamabad Traffic Police appeals to the public to fully cooperate with this initiative, not only to protect their own lives but also to contribute to the safety of others on the road.
