BEIJING: The Ministerial Meeting of the Global Civilizations Dialogue is going on in Beijing from July 10 to 11, at-tracting over 600 participants from approximately 140 countries and regions worldwide.
In today’s world, the future and destiny of all countries are closely interwoven. In such circumstances, inclusiveness, coexistence, and exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations play an irreplacea-ble role in advancing humanity’s modernization process and flourishing the garden of world civiliza-tions. On March 15, 2023, Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed the GCI at the CPC in Dialogue with World Political Parties High-level Meeting. The initiative advocates the respect for the diversity of civilizations, the common values of humanity, the importance of inheritance and inno-vation of civilizations, and robust international people-to-people exchanges and cooperation. The GCI is another important intellectual public goods that China provides for the international com-munity in the new era.
The initiative has responded to the international community’s aspirations for enhanced dialogue and exchanges among civilizations and gathered forces that dispel estrangement and boost people-to-people ties.
Over the past two years and more, China has consistently worked hand in hand with the international community to defend equality among civilizations by upholding the principle of peaceful coexistence among diverse cultures; to practice cultural exchanges in exploring ways to broaden the path toward global modernization; to promote civilizational progress through advancing the building of a communi-ty with a shared future for mankind.
The light of civilizations is illuminating the journey to development and prosperity, the might of civiliza-tions is enhancing mankind’s endeavor of modernization, and the way of civilizations is boosting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. China’s proposals and solutions, deeply rooted in the fertile soil of Chinese civilization, have infused strong impetus into the progress of hu-man society.
“At present, it is particularly important for different civilizations to understand and communicate with each other. Joint action is the key,” said Ivo Josipović, the former President of Croatia. Ivo added that the China-proposed GCI is crucial for countries in the world to promote mutual understanding and move into the future hand in hand.
The world has been undergoing profound changes unseen in a century. Standing on the right side of history and of human progress, China will work together with other countries to jointly create a bright-er future for humanity, passing on the spirit of peace from generation to generation and encouraging the luster of civilizations to shine brighter.
