2823 traffic rules’ violators penalised

ISLAMABAD: Following the directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, the Islamabad Traffic Police is consistently striving to provide every possible travel facility to citizens in the federal capital.

In this regard, ITP is actively engaged in taking indiscriminate legal action against those who violate traffic laws, in order to prevent accidents and ensure smooth traffic flow.
During the past week, the Islamabad Traffic Police took legal action against 2823 vehicles, motorcyclists, public transport and freight vehicles for violating traffic laws.
As part of a special campaign, the ITP took action against 1422 vehicles for using non-standard number plates, 1386 motorcyclists for riding without helmets 2696 cases of illegal parking, 1213 instances of wrong-way driving, 764 cases of traffic signal violations, 114 individuals for driving without a license and 880 drivers for lane discipline violations. Additionally, 942 vehicles and 1881 motorcycles were impounded at various police stations due to serious violations.
