The US media has acknowledged Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir’s effective diplomacy in strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations.
Famed US publication The Washington Post has in a recent article praised the field marshal for his “skilful navigation of Trump’s political world, fostering closer ties with the White House at a time of US-India tension.”
According to the newspaper article, re-election of Donald Trump as US President was seen as a major challenge for Pakistan. However, Pakistani officials strengthened ties with the White House amid changing global dynamics. The United States appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in counterterrorism, and as a result of successful diplomacy, the banned outfit BLA was designated by the US as a global terrorist organization.
Furthermore, Pakistan offered the US partnerships in crypto projects and mineral development, to which President Trump expressed deep interest in investing in Pakistan.
The post added that after the ceasefire with India, Pakistan-US relations gained further momentum, and Field Marshal Munir’s visit to Washington is seen as a milestone in further solidifying this relationship.
