Urdu, Chinese Calligraphic Art Exhibition opens in Beijing

BEIJING: The Pakistan-China Calligraphic Art Exhibition opens today at the Communication University of China, Beijing, celebrating the timeless beauty of Urdu and Chinese calligraphy as a symbol of cultural harmony and the iron brotherhood between the two nations. The exhibition runs from September 22–25, 2025.
Earlier this year, a special calligraphy showcase was held at the National Language Promotion Department, Islamabad, with the support of the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan. From that collection, ten of the finest works were selected and brought to Beijing, where they are now displayed as powerful symbols of unity, shared heritage, and brotherhood.
Adding a global dimension, the exhibition is being held alongside the international conference on “Protecting and Promoting the Diversity of Cultural Expressions: Practices and Future”, also hosted at the Communication University of China from September 22–25. With 23 countries participating, the platform provides an opportunity for Pakistan-China calligraphy to be shared with a global audience, further amplifying cultural ties.
Organizers emphasized that calligraphy, as an ancient art form, transcends language and geography. They described the exhibition as more than an artistic display — a bridge of ink, a living expression of friendship, and a celebration of cultural diversity.
The event was jointly organized by China’s Institute for a Community with Shared Future (ICSF) and Pakistan’s National Language Promotion Department (NLPD), and inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Li Huailiang, Dean of ICSF; Khalid Taimur Akram, Executive Director of PRCCSF; and the DG of NLPD, Ministry of National Heritage and Culture Division, Pakistan. –Agencies
