ISLAMABAD: Following the special directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, the Islamabad Traffic Police has launched a targeted operation against motorcyclists across the federal capital following the expiration of the deadline.
On the first day of this campaign, action was taken against over 2,200 drivers for various traffic violations. A total of 532 motorcycles and 60 vehicles were impounded at different police stations, while 24 FIRs were also registered.
Legal action was also initiated against more than 1,100 motorcyclists for violating traffic rules including
90 lane violations, 5 for use of heavy silencers, 426 violating red signal and non-standard number plates, 134 for lack of mirrors and indicators, 99 for underage driving, 71 for pillion riding violations, 405 for no helmet use, 34 for driving without a license, and other traffic violations.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Islamabad Capt. (retd) Hamzah Humayun, urged all drivers to act responsibly and comply with traffic laws to avoid legal consequences. He emphasized that driving without a license is a danger to both the driver and others on the road.
He further stated that the Islamabad Traffic Police will not allow anyone to jeopardize the safety of citizens. This campaign is for your safety and the safety of other citizens, he added.
Maintaining a well-regulated traffic system in the federal capital and ensuring the provision of better travel facilities for citizens remain top priorities for the Islamabad Traffic Police.
