ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Interior and Narcotics Control Talal Chaudhry on Friday assured implementation of journalists demands and expressed solidarity with the media fraternity over the incident at the National Press Club (NPC).
Speaking to reporters in the press gallery, Talal Chaudhry said that, on the directives of the Federal Interior Minister, he personally visited the NPC along with senior officials, including the Inspector General of Police (IGP), to review the situation and extend support.
He described the incident as “deeply regrettable” and reiterated that all demands put forward by the NPC leadership would be implemented in letter and spirit.
“On my arrival at the press club yesterday, I assured the journalist community that we stand by you. I not only condemned the incident but also expressed my personal solidarity with the media fraternity,” the minister said.
He added that the government was committed to ensuring justice, noting that immediate steps had already been taken in consultation with NPC leadership, including directions for accountability of those responsible.
Talal Chaudhry said the Interior Ministry and law enforcement agencies were in constant contact with NPC leadership and would continue to extend full cooperation.
