China-Pakistan Skills Base empowers local women

ISLAMABAD: A new chapter in China-Pakistan people-to-people cooperation opened with the launch of the China-Pakistan Youth One Sphere International Women’s Training Base in Islamabad, an initiative designed to equip Pakistani women with practical skills for generating sustainable economic benefits.
The project, supported by the Beijing One Sphere Charity Foundation and the China-Pakistan Youth Exchange Community, commenced with the donation of 30 sewing machines to establish the training facility’s foundational capacity.
Beyond sewing techniques, the base will progressively introduce public welfare courses in basic computer skills and Chinese pastry making.
A dedicated program to craft traditional shawls will follow, serving both the preservation of cultural heritage and the development of commercially viable skills.
The training program operates in intensive three-month cycles, with four sessions annually accommodating 30 participants each. This structured approach enables the center to equip up to 120 women yearly with valuable technical capabilities.
The first cohort of students from Islamabad and Rawalpindi has already started sewing instruction and additional courses scheduled to be launched in the coming months.
“The ultimate goal is to provide these women with the tools they need to contribute meaningfully to their families and communities,” said Ma Bin from the organizing committee.
“By combining traditional crafts with modern skills, we hope to promote practical cross-border cooperation in women’s empowerment.” –Agencies
