ISLAMABAD:The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday announced that by-elections for three National Assembly seats and two Provincial Assembly seats in Faisalabad and Sahiwal will be held on November 23.
As per the announced schedule, by-elections are set to take place in NA-96, (Faisalabad-II), NA-104 (Faisalabad-X), and NA-143 (Sahiwal-III)—as well as two Punjab Assembly constituencies—PP-98 (Faisalabad-I) and PP-203 (Sahiwal-VI).
Appeals against the decisions of returning officers must be filed by October 24, and appellate tribunals are expected to resolve these appeals by October 31.
The official list of candidates will be released on November 1. Candidates may withdraw their nominations until November 3, and election symbols will be assigned on November 4.
The schedule has been announced in accordance with the Election Act 2017, and the Election Commission of Pakistan has mandated strict enforcement of the code of conduct. –Agencies
