ISLAMABAD: The CDA has approved a comprehensive plan to construct 20 water tanks and 100 recharge wells across different areas of Islamabad to address alarming decline in the city’s groundwater levels.
According to a written reply submitted by the Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control in the National Assembly, potential sites for the water tanks and recharge wells have been identified, while final locations will be confirmed after detailed technical evaluation. Under the plan, the construction of 20 water tanks will be completed within six months, while 100 recharge wells will be developed in two months. The initiative is aimed at reducing the risk of flash floods during heavy rains, replenishing the depleting underground water table, and improving rainwater storage capacity for multiple purposes. –Agencies
