ISLAMABAD: Deputy Chief of Mission of the United States Embassy in Pakistan, Zachary Harkenrider, along with his father, Gregory L. Harkenrider and mother, Ms Karen S. Harkenrider, visited the Parliament House on Thursday.
The delegation was warmly received by Tariq Bin Waheed, Senior Director General of the Senate Secretariat, who briefed the guests on the working of the Parliament, the constitutional and legislative role of the Senate, parliamentary traditions, and the functioning of the Upper House.
During the briefing, the visitors were apprised of Pakistan’s democratic evolution, the historical development of the Senate, and its pivotal role in promoting national cohesion and federal harmony.
The delegation also visited the Senate Museum, where they took a keen interest in the exhibits depicting Pakistan’s parliamentary and constitutional history. They were also shown a documentary highlighting the establishment, evolution, and legislative significance of the Senate of Pakistan.
Later, the guests visited the Senate Chamber, where they observed the House’s proceedings and appreciated the comprehensive briefing and warm hospitality extended by the Senate Secretariat.
The visit was described as a meaningful gesture of friendship and cooperation, reflecting a shared commitment to democratic values, parliamentary traditions, and stronger institutional ties between Pakistan and the United States. –Agencies
