ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and China have agreed to intensify cooperation against terrorism, following a meeting between Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad.
The engagement on Monday afternoon underscored Beijing’s unwavering support for Pakistan at a time when regional security challenges remain a central concern for both countries—particularly in light of China’s growing investments and presence under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
During the meeting, the Chinese envoy strongly condemned the recent suicide attack in Islamabad, offering condolences over the loss of lives and stressing that such incidents would not weaken the resolve of China and Pakistan to work together for regional stability.
He reaffirmed that China stands firmly with Pakistan, not only as a strategic partner but as a long-standing friend committed to supporting the country through every challenge.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi emphasized that Pakistan-China ties are anchored in deep mutual trust and respect, describing China as Pakistan’s “most reliable and time-tested partner.”
He noted that China has consistently supported Pakistan during crises, including economic difficulties, security threats, and natural disasters. Naqvi reiterated Pakistan’s determination to safeguard Chinese personnel and projects, particularly those associated with the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor, said an official statement,
Both sides discussed mechanisms to enhance counter-terrorism coordination, intelligence sharing, security protocols, and joint threat monitoring, reflecting China’s increased focus on the safety of its nationals working in Pakistan.
They agreed to expand ongoing cooperation to address emerging security challenges, including threats posed by cross-border militant groups targeting CPEC-related operations.
Ambassador Jiang assured that China will continue to maintain full-spectrum cooperation with Pakistan, encompassing security, political dialogue, and people-to-people ties. –Agencies
