Waheed Murad’s legacy remembered on his 42nd death anniversary

ISLAMABAD: Chocolate Hero Waheed Murad was remembered on his 42nd death anniversary on Sunday.
The legendary actor, who introduced new dimensions to Pakistani cinema, passed away on November 23, 1983, in Karachi.
His remarkable contributions earned him numerous accolades, including the Nigar Award, Graduate Award, and National Award.
He began his film career as a supporting actor in the movie Aulad, while his first successful role as a hero came with Heera Aur Pathar.
Murad rose to iconic status with the 1966 release Armaan, a record-breaking film that ran continuously in cinemas for 75 weeks. Over his illustrious career, Waheed Murad appeared in more than 124 Urdu, Punjabi, and Pashto films.
His most popular films include Andaleeb, Doraaha, Salgirah, Anjuman, Dil Mera Dharkan Teri, Jab Jab Phool Khile, Devar Bhabhi, and Naseeb Apna Apna.
In recognition of his enduring legacy, the Government of Pakistan posthumously honored him with the Sitara-e-Imtiaz in 2011. –Agencies
