IHC orders removal of citizen’s name from ECL

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday ordered the authorities to remove the name of a Pakistani father from ECL in a case filed by a polish woman seeking extradition of her daughter from Pakistan.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani heard the case of Polish woman Anna Monica for the extradition of her minor daughter from her Pakistani father Adeel Khan.
The court issued an important order and directed the Interior Secretary to remove Adeel Khan’s name from the Exit Control List (ECL). The court ruled that Adeel Khan’s name should be removed from the travel ban list for 20 days from the first week of March so that he can attend the hearing regarding his daughter in Poland.
During the hearing yesterday, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani inquired when the proceedings are in the Polish court? To which the petitioner’s lawyer said that the hearing will be held on March 11, 2026. Adeel Khan’s lawyer requested the court to reject the application and said that his client has already been offloaded as he was on the ECL.
The petitioner’s lawyer Habisa Shah took the stand that Adeel Khan’s name should be removed from the travel ban list so that progress can be made in the court matters.
The Islamabad High Court ordered Adeel Khan’s name to be removed from the ECL for 20 days during the hearing period in Poland and adjourned the further hearing of the case till April 6. –Agencies
