ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly on Thursday passed a resolution condemning recent remarks by Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh regarding Sindh, describing them as misleading, historically incorrect and politically irresponsible.
The resolution, moved by MNA Asad Alam Niazi, rejected Singh’s statements. The resolution added that the statements did not reflect the constitutional or geopolitical realities of the region.
The House reaffirmed that Sindh is an integral part of the sovereign state of Pakistan and emphasised that its status is fully protected under the Constitution and recognised at both national and international levels.
The resolution further urged all individuals and institutions to avoid issuing biased or destabilising statements that could create misunderstanding or negatively affect national cohesion.
Members across the aisle supported the resolution, noting that such remarks were inappropriate and could misguide public opinion.
The House reiterated its commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity. –Agencies
