ISLAMABAD: On the directions of Deputy Inspector General of Police Islamabad, Muhammad Jawad Tariq, the SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza has prepared a comprehensive security plan in Islamabad for Christmas.
To ensure foolproof security, more than 3,500 officers will be deployed on duty during Christmas. All concerned SDPOs and SHOs have been issued instructions to deploy civil police personnel, uniformed armed officers, and female police officers outside places of worship.
Various police teams will keep a close watch on suspicious and suspected individuals, while additional personnel will be deployed at public places. The Bomb Disposal Squad will ensure thorough searches of different areas. All police stations in Islamabad have also been directed to prepare duty rosters in this regard. Patrol teams have been designated for various sectors and rural areas of Islamabad.
SSP Operations Islamabad directed all officers to take all necessary measures to make the security of Christian places of worship effective in their respective areas. Checkpoints should be established at various locations and strict searches should be carried out.
Complete coordination should be maintained with program organizers and punctuality must be ensured. Proper car parking arrangements should be made, and parking areas must be located away from places of worship. Armed personnel should also be deployed on the rooftops of places of worship.
No programs should be held in open spaces. Adequate lighting arrangements must be ensured, and violations of loudspeaker regulations will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He further stated that security arrangements at recreational places should be made more effective by further strengthening security. Security at all entry and exit points should be further enhanced.
All zonal SPs should personally review security arrangements in their respective areas and brief police officers according to the prevailing situation. Searches should continue in accordance with the formulated security plan. DIG Islamabad stated that the foremost duty of the police is to ensure the protection of citizens’ lives and property. All available resources will be utilized for this purpose, and no negligence will be tolerated in this regard.
