ISLAMABAD: National Language Promotion Department (NLPD) will host a reception for young poet-researcher Farzand Ali Hashmi’s book Abad Abad on January 2 (Friday).
The event is being organised by the NLPD in collaboration with the literary organisation Dabistan-e-Potohar. The ceremony is being held in connection with the celebrations marking the birth anniversary of Hazrat Ali (Karram-Allah-u Wajhahu), observed on 13 Rajab 1447 AH, and is expected to be attended by prominent figures from the fields of literature, scholarship, and Sufism.
Renowned intellectual and critic Dr Maqsood Jafri will preside over the event, while eminent writer and literary scholar Muhammad Hameed Shahid will attend as the chief guest. Distinguished educationist and researcher Dr Tahira Ashfaq and noted scholar Dr Farhat Abbas will participate as guests of honour.
The proceedings of the ceremony will be conducted by Munir Fayaz, while Dr Rashid Hameed will deliver the welcome address. A selected recitation of verses from the book will be presented in a melodious style by Aqdas Hashmi. Literary circles have described Abad Abad as a thoughtful and evocative blend of mysticism, intellectual exploration, and contemporary awareness. The book is being regarded as a meaningful addition to modern Urdu prose, reflecting the author’s deep engagement with spiritual themes and social consciousness.
The organisers have extended an invitation to scholars, writers, students, and readers with an interest in Urdu literature and Sufi thought to attend the ceremony and participate in the literary discourse.
