Pakistani academics complete advanced training in China

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission (HEC) said Thursday that 24 senior academics from Pakistani universities have completed an advanced training program in China aimed at strengthening academic collaboration and capacity building under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Framework.
The two-week Advanced Training Programme was hosted at Tianjin Foreign Studies University under the CPEC University Consortium, a joint initiative of Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission and the China Association of Higher Education.
According to the HEC, the program focused on emerging areas including artificial intelligence-powered education, intelligent manufacturing and digital transformation in higher education. The initiative was designed to enhance academic cooperation, research partnerships and talent development between the two countries.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Tianjin Foreign Studies University President Li Yingying described the program as an opportunity for participants to explore technological innovation and apply digital transformation strategies in their institutions. She said the initiative also forms part of activities marking 75 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.
HEC Director General for Global Engagement Aayesha Ikram said the program reflects the commission’s commitment to improving quality, inclusion and impact in Pakistan’s higher education sector. She added that organizing a second training program within two months demonstrates growing trust and expanding academic ties between the two countries.
Deputy Secretary-General of the China Association of Higher Education Gao Xiaojie reaffirmed the longstanding partnership and highlighted the consortium’s role in promoting collaborative research and capacity building in emerging fields.
On behalf of the participants, Dr. Abdul Samad of the University of Loralai said the program provided valuable insights into China’s digital transformation in higher education and offered practical knowledge that could benefit Pakistani institutions.
The CPEC University Consortium serves as a platform to deepen cooperation between Pakistani and Chinese universities and support academic engagement aligned with the broader goals of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. –Agencies
