DOHA: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday held a meeting with Amir of
the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, during his visit to Doha, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening its longstanding ties with Qatar.
The two leaders reviewed the entire spectrum of bilateral relations and expressed satisfaction over the positive trajectory of political engagement between the two countries. They underscored the importance of enhancing cooperation in all areas of mutual interest and reaffirmed their shared resolve to deepen the fraternal relationship.
Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani reiterated Qatar’s commitment to elevating the economic partnership with Pakistan to a higher strategic level. Discussions focused on transforming strong political ties into tangible economic outcomes and expanding mutually beneficial cooperation.
The leaders also exchanged views on regional and international developments of mutual interest. They emphasized the importance of dialogue, diplomacy and peaceful resolution of disputes, and reaffirmed support for closer coordination within multilateral fora. Both sides agreed to maintain close engagement on key regional issues.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Chief of the Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir were also present during the meeting.
Later, in a post on social media platform X, the prime minister described his meeting with the Amir of Qatar as warm and productive, stating that discussions centered on advancing brotherly ties and strengthening economic relations. He noted that Pakistan and Qatar would continue to work together for peace and stability in the region and beyond.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated his invitation to the Amir of Qatar to undertake a visit to Pakistan, which His Highness accepted. The visit is expected to take place later this year.
