ISLAMABAD: Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Senator Rubina Khalid Saturday stressed the importance of safeguarding cultural and historical heritage, terming it a vital component of national identity and unity.
In her message on World Heritage Day, she said the day serves as a reminder of the collective responsibility to preserve cultural and historical assets for future generations.
She said Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage reflects its civilizational identity and stands as a symbol of national cohesion. Preserving historical sites and traditions, she added, is essential to maintaining a strong connection with the country’s past.
The chairperson noted that the Benazir Income Support Programme is not only contributing to economic uplift but is also playing a role in promoting cultural awareness.
She said that by empowering women, BISP is helping strengthen positive social values and traditions in society.
She added that the present government is taking several steps to protect and promote the country’s cultural heritage.
“World Heritage Day conveys the message of staying connected with our history and ensuring its preservation,” she said, adding that improving the lives of deserving women through BISP is contributing to broader social stability.
