ISLAMABAD: Sadequain Foundation paid tribute to Allama Muhammad Iqbal on his death anniversary, highlighting the enduring connection between Iqbal’s philosophical thought and the artistic legacy of Sadequain.
Iqbal, the visionary poet-philosopher who laid the intellectual foundation for Pakistan, is revered as Mufakkir-e-Pakistan and Shair-e-Mashriq. His poetry continues to inspire generations with its message of selfhood (khudi), unity, and spiritual awakening.
A representative of the foundation, Zohaib Ch, said that on this solemn occasion, Iqbal’s legacy found a profound artistic expression in Sadequain’s work. He noted that Sadequain’s iconic “Mo’jza-e-Fun” series serves as a remarkable visual interpretation of Iqbal’s poetry, where verses transcend words and take shape through bold lines, expressive figures, and dynamic calligraphy.
He said that through this series, Sadequain transformed Iqbal’s philosophical depth into a visual language, effectively bridging literature and fine art. Each illustration reflects themes of struggle, self-realization, and the eternal quest for truth, core elements of Iqbal’s poetic vision.
Zohaib Ch added that the fusion of text and imagery in “Mo’jza-e-Fun” not only preserves Iqbal’s message but also reintroduces it to modern audiences in a compelling and accessible manner. The foundation emphasized that the series remained a valuable cultural treasure and underscored the importance of preserving and promoting such works for future generations.
“Iqbal’s poetry is not just to be read, but to be felt, and Sadequain made it visible,” Zohaib Ch remarked, adding that the combination of poetic philosophy and visual storytelling serves as a powerful reminder of Pakistan’s rich intellectual and artistic heritage. As the nation commemorates Iqbal’s enduring legacy, the tribute through Sadequain’s art reaffirms a shared cultural identity where words and images come together to inspire thought, creativity, and purpose.
